Robert Mudie, (1777-1842), was the illustrator of the Historical and Topographical Description of the Channel Islands, published in 1840. He was from Angus in Scotland, was the youngest son of John Mudie, a weaver, and his wife, Elizabeth, née Bany, who attended the village school and was from them on largely he was self educated and went on to become a teacher, writer and illustrator.
